Due to the lack of conducted gene therapy trials in Bulgaria information is limited. Clinical gene therapy trials are into the competencies of the Ministry of Health, which are in the scope of  the Act on the human medicinal substances. The Ministry of environment and water will be involved in the environmental risk assessment in trial cases involving GMOs.
