No clinical gene therapy trials have been requested in Latvia. The government authority State Agency of Medicines (SAM) is monitored by the Minister of Health. SAM is responsible for the evaluation of medicinal products and drugs, their registration, monitoring, control and distribution management within the country. The objective of the Agency is ensuring availability of efficient, safe and qualitative medicines to the Latvian population.
